Sunday Mornings

Security and Check-In

The first stop for parents and kids is the Children’s Welcome Center, located beside the lobby at the main entrance of the KidsDiscovery area. There you can register and check in your children for their classes.  At registration, each family is assigned a unique number. You will receive a security card, with this number, for each child who will be attending KidsDiscovery that day.

The security card is used to:

  • pick up your children at the end of the Celebration
  • provide a means to visually page you should your child need you during the service

At registration, you are encouraged to create a nametag for each child with the child’s name, security number and an allergy reminder for the child’s teacher.
Once children have entered their classrooms, parents can participate in the Celebration services, secure in knowing that they can be reached immediately in the event of a special need. There is a monitor placed over the exit door in the front right hand corner of the auditorium, which will display your family’s ID number if your child needs you.

After the Celebration, children are picked up from their classrooms when a parent presents the family ID tag to a children’s leader.  Children will be released only to a parent with an appropriate security card.

Infant/Toddler (Birth – 2 years)

New Horizons Fellowship’s infant/toddler class is designed for children from birth through age 2. The infant/toddler class offers quality, nurturing child care provided by NHF members. Excellent adult to child ratios are maintained at all times.

Preschool (Age 3-5)

Preschoolers begin their Sunday with playtime while they wait for the rest of their friends to arrive.  Then the children and volunteers join in a time of praise and worship.

Praise time is followed by the teaching of the day and a highly interactive Bible story.  They then return to the play room to have time with their friends – young and old at heart — while waiting for parent pickup.  Each weekend is filled with fun and learning!

Elementary (Grades K-5)

Kids begin with activities to introduce them to the day’s lesson while they interact with other kids and the volunteers.  Then the children and volunteers join in a time of praise and worship.

After praise time, the kids experience their Bible story in the large group gathering, then they break into smaller age-graded groups for application activities. Leaders provide an exciting adventure as they guide the children through a Bible-based curriculum which teaches them how to apply God’s truth in today’s world.

The age graded groups are kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade and 4th/5th grade.  These groups allow the children to be taught at a level that is meaningful to their age group.

KidsDiscovery Shows Kids the Big Picture of God’s Story with The Gospel Project:

The Gospel Project® for Kids immerses kids and preschoolers in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. Ultimately, the gospel message changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when a child experiences the gospel. Through The Gospel Project® for Kids, kids and preschoolers will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.  The Gospel Project also includes material for infant/toddlers!

Features:

  • Chronological approach allows kids to see how Christ fits into the whole Bible.
  • Spend equal time in the Old and New Testaments, learning how every story connects to the gospel.
  • Bible stories brought to life through creative teaching elements.
  • Family resources and age alignment make it easy for families to grow in the gospel together.

The Gospel Project is used for the entire student ministry from infant/toddler through youth.  While each lesson is age appropriate, all ages study the same topic each Sunday.  This is a wonderful tool that enables the entire family to discuss what the kids and youth have learned while riding in the care or around the dinner table.
