Sunday Mornings

Security and Check-In

The first stop for parents and kids is the Children’s Welcome Center, located beside the lobby at the main entrance of the KidsDiscovery area. There you can register and check in your children for their classes.  At registration, each family is assigned a unique number. You will receive a security card, with this number, for each child who will be attending KidsDiscovery that day.

The security card is used to:

  • pick up your children at the end of the Celebration
  • provide a means to visually page you should your child need you during the service

At registration, you are encouraged to create a nametag for each child with the child’s name, security number and an allergy reminder for the child’s teacher.
Once children have entered their classrooms, parents can participate in the Celebration services, secure in knowing that they can be reached immediately in the event of a special need. There is a monitor placed over the exit door in the front right hand corner of the auditorium, which will display your family’s ID number if your child needs you.

After the Celebration, children are picked up from their classrooms when a parent presents the family ID tag to a children’s leader.  Children will be released only to a parent with an appropriate security card.

Nursery (Birth – 23 Months)

New Horizons Fellowship’s nursery is designed for children from birth to age 23 months. The nursery offers quality, nurturing child care provided by NHF members. Excellent adult to child ratios are maintained at all times.

For the comfort of your child, please bring a diaper bag, labeled with the child’s name, containing:

  • 1-2 diapers
  • change of clothes
  • clip-on pacifier (if used)
  • prepared bottles or sippy cups, labeled with the child’s name

Items like medications should be removed from the diaper bag before the bag is left in the nursery.

Preschool (Age 2 and 3)

Younger preschoolers begin their Sunday with playtime while they wait for the rest of their friends to arrive.  Then the children and volunteers join the entire KidsDiscovery group for a time of praise and worship.

Praise time is followed by the teaching of the day, which involves songs, and a highly interactive Bible story. Children do a simple craft to reinforce the lesson and then enjoy a snack.  They then return to the play room to have time with their friends – young and young at heart — while waiting for parent pickup.  Each weekend is filled with fun and learning!

Preschool (Age 4 and 5)

Older preschoolers begin their Sunday with playtime while they wait for the rest of their friends to arrive.  Then the children and volunteers join the entire KidsDiscovery group for a time of praise and worship.

After praise time, the kids are taught to LIVE B.I.G. with an interactive Bible story, a short video clip and an active game. Children do a simple craft to reinforce the lesson and enjoy a snack.  They then return to the play room to have time with their friends – young and young at heart– while waiting for parent pickup.  Each weekend is filled with fun and learning!

Elementary (Grades K – 5)

Kids begin with activities to introduce to the day’s lesson while they interact with other kids and the volunteers.  Then the children and volunteers join the entire KidsDiscovery group for a time of praise and worship.

After praise time, the kids gather in age graded small groups to learn God’s basic truths through a creatively presented Bible lesson, short video clip, music, drama and art. Leaders provide an exciting adventure as they guide the children through a Bible-based curriculum which teaches them how to apply God’s truth in today’s world.

The age graded groups are kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade and 4th/5th grade.  These groups allow the children to be taught at a level that is meaningful to their age group.
